With the global pandemic showing no signs of slowing down, life is certainly tricky for anyone with serious wanderlust. Being trapped at home, with nothing but four walls to stare at for months, has definitely begun to take its toll and no doubt you’re all dreaming about your next big trip away.
Planning travel at the moment is tricky, with the rules and regulations changing on what seems like a daily basis country by country, so keep an eye on your top destinations to find out what’s going on before you book anything, to avoid disappointment.
If you’re thinking about heading to France at some point, you’ll be pleased to hear that the country is a truly magical place to visit over the winter months - and hopefully you’ll have no pandemic-related issues to deal with if you choose to head out there in January or February.
Paris, of course, is a beautiful place to visit at any time of year, but it can look especially stunning at the start of the year. And you get the added bonus of there being fewer crowds of tourists to contend with, so you may have it all to yourself!
There’s truly nothing better than cozying up in a snug little Parisian cafe with a good book and some delicious hot chocolate to really help you get away from it all and forget about the world, something that we’re all in need of at the moment.
If you’d rather not feel the cold, you could think about heading off to Cannes and the French Riviera instead of Paris, which enjoys warmer temperatures over the winter months.
Again, you won’t have to share it with as many people as you would during the summer, so take full advantage of this fact and go for a quiet stroll around the marina, or explore the old town and its beautiful cobblestoned streets.
For the very best views, make your way up the watchtower - and don’t forget the credit card, as Cannes has some incredible designer shops… the perfect place to really spoil yourself!
And if you’re looking for a party at the start of the year, head off to Nice, which puts on one of the most popular festivals in all of France each February - the Nice Carnival. If this is on your bucket list and you want to plan a trip around it, make sure you keep up to date with all the latest announcements to make sure it’s going ahead next year.
It truly is a wonderful spectacle to behold, with amazing fireworks displays, live music, parades and floats, and - of course - an incredible array of food. You certainly won’t be going home hungry!
