  • April 23 2020

While you may not be able to book holiday apartments in Switzerland at the moment because of the global coronavirus pandemic, that doesn’t mean you’re not able to start planning your dream holiday right now… and it could be just the tonic you need, giving you and your family something amazing to look forward to later on in the year. There’s a huge amount on offer to the discerning holidaymaker in this beautiful part of the world. So much so, in fact, that you’ll likely find it difficult to put your trip itinerary together, which is why we thought we’d count down some of the best places to visit in the country. Where will you go first? The Matterhorn You’re sure to recognise the Matterhorn as it’s one of the most photographed mountains ever - and it’s an absolute must-see for anyone travelling to Switzerland in the near future. If you don’t feel like walking to the top, you can always catch a lift in the cable car - and you’ll get some incredible views if you do. Lake Geneva This is one of the most beautiful places to visit in the whole of Switzerland and there’s a huge amount to do so you certainly won’t be bored if you choose to spend a day or two at Lake Geneva. If watersports are your passion, you’ll be able to do the likes of kayaking, water skiing and windsurfing - or you can just sit back and relax on board a paddle steamer as it makes its way across the lake. Bern Did you know that the city of Bern’s symbol is the bear? You can actually go and see a wonderful family of bears right in the historic township itself at Bear Park over the river from the old town. The city is a magical place to visit during the winter, with some amazing Christmas markets put on - perfect for all your festive shopping. /h2/Rhine Falls/h2/ This is the most powerful waterfall to be found in Europe and there are numerous viewing decks you can stand on to watch the water cascading down. You could even rent yourself a canoe and paddle around, checking out all the local castles from a different perspective. If lockdown has ended and you’re able to travel in August, you could time your trip to include National Day celebrations, which ends in an amazing fireworks display. St Moritz This is a very chic little resort town split up into two parts - St Moritz Dorf which overlooks the lake and St Moritz Bad on the valley floor, a renowned health resort. It’s the perfect choice for anyone who loves being active, as there are all the winter sports you can think of to try out, while in the summer you can enjoy biking, hiking, watersports and more.
